Carmen has always had a keen interest in sports and maintaining an active lifestyle. She has over 6 years of experience in Wushu, a form of martial arts. She also enjoys playing volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee and snowboarding in her spare time. As an avid athlete herself and having gone through several sport related injuries including an ACL reconstruction, Carmen understands the importance and benefits of physical therapy, injury management and prevention.
Loving to learn, Carmen continues to enrol herself in courses to advance her knowledge and skill set. She has taken courses in Mulligan’s Concept, visceral manipulation through The Barral Institute and advanced athletic taping. She has completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program from McMaster University and she frequently uses this treatment as an adjunct to manual therapy for many of her clients. In 2017, Carmen also completed her Diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy, earning her a Fellowship in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT).
Carmen’s treatment philosophy involves utilizing a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, strength training, athletic taping and education to help her clients achieve a quick recovery with optimal function. She enjoys working closely with her clients to develop individualized treatment programs to help them meet their personal goals of physical performance.
